During the 20th Century we experienced a number of classifications ranging from the “Nuclear Age”, the “Age of the Sexual Revolution”, “Age of Aquarius” to the “Space Age.”   However, as we emerge into the 21st Century,“Age of Anxiety” probably best epitomizes the human state.

Anxiety is a formidable negative “force” that hacks through all societal levels affecting everyone.  Few are immune from the scourge of anxiety and its attendant infectious nervous tension.  Western television commercials, plays, movies, newspapers, books, and magazines constantly portray society’s “tensions” as sometimes comical, sometimes tragic but always fascinating attempts of people to be free of daily pressures.

Anxieties and tensions are treacherous forces residing below the surface of awareness.  There they fester day after day until a “breaking point” is reached, and you explode into a fit of anger, a violent argument, or overindulgence in food, alcohol or sex, become a work-alcoholic, or are plagued with severe headaches, fatigue, impotency, sleepless nights, ulcers, or any number of actual physical ailments.   Introspective worry - fear of losing one’s status in society, etc. - also encroaches upon consciousness, intensifying the frustration already being experienced.  And try as you might, you are unable to come to grips with the underlying unconscious basis of anxiety to eliminate it.

Consequently, like most people in this turbulent age, you gulp down aspirin to escape that dull aching feeling, or your retreat will be in the form of bar breaks, cocaine, or prescribed psychotropics.  You may go under some surgeon’s knife for elective surgery, or you’ll change your job, get divorced, move to another town, or some psychologist, at a few hundred bucks per pop, will tell you to “adjust” to your problems, or you’ll learn to “live-with-your-anxiety” thanks to a psychiatrist’s stultifying shock treatments or drug therapy, or perhaps you’ll grin and bear it because your religious leader piously proclaims that sorrow is life’s only reward, and so forth, ad nauseam.  Sadly, you inevitably discover only temporary relief and you continue to carry your problems with you wherever you go and whatever you do.

When the afore-mentioned “remedies” fail to affect a permanent cure, where then will  we find the solution to our anxieties?   Honestly now, why do you suppose man is constantly beset with problems, anxieties, tensions, fears, and frustrations?  Are humans doomed at birth to remain at the mercy and “whim” of uncontrollable circumstances?   Ultimately, the question remains, “Do humans really exercise dominion over their lives?”

Keeping these salient questions in mind, let’s observe another area of living directly related and of equal important.  That is, the alienation often suggested by psychologists, philosophers and sociologists when speaking of man’s profound sense of isolation, separation, loneliness, powerlessness, apathy, non-involvement, pessimism, meaninglessness, rootlessness, and lack of authentic moral values.  Alienation may best be described as that state in which the individual feels dissociated or isolated from himself, from others, and from the world in general.  It is followed by corresponding states of strangeness, unnaturalness, disorganization, and anxiety.

It’s no wonder that Westerners often feel acutely alienated and nervous.   With mechanization, specialization, automation, social unrest, terrorism, wars, and economic uncertainty on the increase, humanity has become lost in a pervasive and constantly mutating social prison.  At some point in the distant past we can speculate that mankind intuitively understood their place within the universe.  That we were more intimately connected to nature and its underlying spiritual connectedness.  However, somewhere along the road this knowledge was lost.  And now, in this modern world,  individuals have allowed themselves to become  little more than heavily oiled cogs in an unwieldy, and artificial societal machine . . . mechanized, routinized, depersonalized, apathetic, insignificant, objects born to be manipulated.

With the ever present threat of mass nuclear annihilation on the one hand, and on the other, prophetic promises of a New World Order and its attendant, “compromised justice for all,” people grow increasingly confused, uncertain and schizoid simply because they can’t relate or solve problems of such immense proportions.  Instant communication systems of this modern world relate North Americans to the problems and struggles for freedom of people throughout the world, to the extent that we experience an unbearable sense of powerlessness and helplessness in our inability to do anything much beyond striking back with deadly force when faced with opposition.

Artificial intelligence controlled mechanization and its proportional increase in leisure time, coupled with the incredible increase in digital communications over the past 20 years, has left whole populations totally unprepared to spend their leisure creatively.  And in fact, many would gladly give up their leisure for more of the same monotonous work if they could.  With the average person now living in a parallel environment separated from his/her inherent nature - prisons shaped and built themselves - they subconsciously sense separation from their basic natures.  They have become  isolated from nature with all of its original peace and refreshing naturalness.  And while the world’s population explodes at a fantastic rate, most moderns experience increasing difficulty simply communicating with their neighbours, yet experience daily the horrific world-wide poverty and destruction of life and property.

And thus, we now find humanity drifting aimlessly through a world seemingly without meaning or purpose, encased in an increasingly materialistic world over which they exercise no conscious control or direct power.  Humans today have lost their sense of identity, their selfhood, and their purpose for existing.  Never before has humanity been so much of a problem to himself.

Why is it that mankind, arguably  the most intelligent creature generally known to exist on this planet, allows this appalling situation to exist?  Is there a practical answer?

First, while we are in the midst of a knowledge explosion today, it has not come anywhere near eliminating war, fear, poverty, anxiety, or man’s daily inhumanity to man.  Increased knowledge has not made humans more humane ( http://www.unityuniversal.net/evolution.html ).  Nor has it provided humanity any legitimate wisdom about whom they are and why they exist.  Obviously, a new type of knowledge is desperately needed, a self-knowledge to radically alter the individual’s way of living and thinking.  A new societal paradigm, if you would.

Secondly, it’s imperative we understand that modern psychology does not contain the answers we seek.  Analytical psychology, psychiatry and psychoanalysis study the individual as he is found or imagined to be, or what he seems to be, and it is quite obvious that this limited study of mankind has failed miserably, as people are more confused today than ever before.  Instead, we must research the individual from the viewpoint of what it is possible to become.  This is the only true psychology --- that which studies a person from their immortal potential in order to produce a higher fourth dimensional expression, or identity.  This NEW PERSON refuses simply to submit to life as it happens, but devotes the major portion of existence to self-awareness in order to consciously control their own life and affairs, and in turn, help others to consciously embrace the freedom gained.

This new approach to psychology and psychoanalysis is self-study.  You have to study yourself.  Your examination will be founded upon basic laws which, although once generally known, are now largely ignored in the 21st Century psychological systems.  Ordinary psychological, or theological schooling systems do not teach methods for self exploration.  And in fact, teach many false concepts concerning “whom” and “what” you really are.  As we proceed, we’ll share universal principles and techniques, which by their application will enable you to see yourself from a fresh viewpoint.

Thirdly, you must truthfully acknowledge that humanity, including yourself, do not know themselves as they are.  In addition to documenting this fact by illustrating modern humanity’s profound sense of alienation and anxiety, Erich Fromm, a world renowned psychoanalyst, stated that all persons use less than 10% of their mind power or potential (more about the 90% unused potential a little further on).  Thus humanity is not only unaware of personal limitations and possibilities, they are not even aware to what extent they are alienated from themselves.  Herein lies the central idea to this system: Ordinarily, a person does not use even the smallest part of their powers, forces or potentialities.

ILLUSIONS PRODUCE SLEEP

Your immediate task must be, to begin to know yourself - the 90% of yourself that you’ve habitually ignored.  To possess self-knowledge you must first become free of illusions about yourself, the people around you, and your universe.  Until you begin to understand the real nature of the illusions inculcated into consciousness since birth, you can never realize the truth about yourself, nor for that matter anything else.   Illusions consist of all sorts of wrong ideas you hold about yourself, false assumptions as to the abilities you possess, erroneous concepts concerning your place and purpose in the universe, and so forth.  These root tendencies are individually inculcated by society from the moment of your birth.  This programming continues throughout this life, blocking most all conscious connection to the larger part of self-awareness, or your universal consciousness.  What we refer to as the immortal self, that aspect of consciousness remaining sublimated below the surface of wakeful awareness.  Thus, we can now understand that our subconscious is the ninety-percent of awareness being blocked by social conditioning, and is where we must seek answers enabling us to move beyond our tensions and fear.

It’s extremely difficult to disassemble these illusions because you are accustomed, or perhaps better, entrained to think of learning, and yourself, in the wrong way.  With all people - no one excluded - the “wrong way of thinking” is a deeply ingrained social pattern that must be shattered and changed.  To change, which is the only way to gain self-knowledge and freedom, you must do something unique.

MAN IS A MACHINE

The major illusion for you to thoroughly recognize is that most people do not understand they actually are machines.   Humanity, as we now find him, is a machine, completely mechanical, a machine totally controlled by external factors.  All of modern humanity’s thoughts, ideas, movements, emotions, aspirations, words, and moods are triggered by external influences.  Humanity is “a creature of habit” repeating the same mistakes over and over again, and who functions automatically according to previous conditioning, upbringing, education, and experiences.  This is why Goethe perceptively proclaimed: “Those who do not understand the past are doomed to relive it.”  Humanity goes through life as an automaton, totally unconscious of their real abilities and largely asleep to their TRUE self.

Painful as it may be, you must recognise that YOU are this person who is mechanical.  Those who are not honest enough to perceive this truth cannot develop, change or evolve and are hopelessly lost to the appreciation of a higher way of living.

If, at this point, you are honest enough with yourself to recognise that you are “asleep” and “mechanical,” then and only then can you take the necessary steps to “awaken” and cease being a machine.

Self-analysis is this necessary step for real enlightenment and “sudden” awakening.

This journey is Gnostic in nature.  Gnosticism is defined as: “The term Gnosticism is derived from the Greek word gnosis ("revealed knowledge"). To its adherents, Gnosticism promised a secret knowledge of the divine realm. Sparks or seeds of the Divine Being fell from this transcendent realm into the material universe . . . and were imprisoned in human bodies. Reawakened by knowledge, the divine element in humanity can return to its proper home in the transcendent spiritual realm.  Microsoft Encarta Encyclopaedia 2003. c 1993-2002 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.  From this viewpoint derives the only way that a person can transcend their current situation: knowledge of a type capable of inducing a  “sudden” awakening.  Wisdom  is power, and certain previously concealed facts are necessary for you to experience truth, your immortal identity, freedom from limitation, and happiness.  With WISDOM no physical exercises (postures, breathing, or otherwise), diets, affirmations, meditations, drugs, rituals, celibacy, or sexual denials are ever required.  Nor is the application of excess in any of these areas required to “wake” you from your sleep.   Only revealed knowledge will awaken your latent powers of integrated self-awareness.

Another illusion that keeps you “asleep” is the false assumption that you are “rational” or “logical” by nature.  The average person falsely assumes that mind is effortlessly logical and “thinks straight” by virtue of birth.  Nothing could be further from the truth: For a person to think logically and straight they must defy the present controlled nature of their mind.  All persons, with rare exception, consider themselves objective yet all are profoundly subjective.

If you honestly feel that you are exempt from these “illusions” about yourself and especially the “illusions” that follow, it simply means that you are more mechanical than anyone else because you cannot see your mechanicalness even when it is pointed out to you.

MEMORIES CONTROL YOU

Why are you a creature of habit, utterly mechanical, subjective, and inclined toward crooked thinking instead of clear thinking?  You are the sum total of everything you have ever experienced in your life up to this present moment in space and time.  And since everything that ever “happened” to you still exists immortal in your subconscious mind as memories (reference The End of Time) YOU are today the expression of all your MEMORIES.  Helen Hunt Jackson recognised this intuitively when she stated: “No past is dead for us, but only sleeping.”  Sleeping within the subconscious, and seemingly beyond recall.

Your memories control you!  It is indisputable that every living person is conditioned and trained from before birth to “fit into” a certain pattern of behaviour deemed socially “acceptable”, and that the traditions of race, heredity, religion, and culture strongly influence the greater part of everyone’s expression of life.  And this is the key concern to the individual seeking to understand the nature of immortality, and what is our true mission here on Earth.

Thus, we find that social engineering proceeds today at a rate never before experienced by humanity.  Every thought, mood, action has been engineered and universally applied through digital media to the extent that there no longer exists individualized motive.   There can be no question but that this is true: That you (all people) are motivated, compelled, and imprisoned by your faux collective past, the illusional history created to control you.  Your historical recall now consists solely of FALSE MEMORIES (even at the molecular level - DNA scripting), and these FALSE MEMORIES control you, making you mechanical, limited, and accident-prone instead of free, objective, and unlimited.  It was this advanced understanding that prompted  Eugene Lee-Hamilton to remark: “Underneath the surface of today, lies yesterday, and what we call the past.”  What we now understand as history is not real.  It has been superimposed upon consciousness, and is continually being revised to meet agenda.

Your Ego consists entirely of memories.  The modern Ego has been created as a screen which serves to separate waking consciousness (intellect)  from the subconsciousness (revealed awareness).  This Ego, the way you view yourself, is the image you must understand and release to gain freedom, objectivity, and self-awareness.  Likewise, the term “conscience” must be re-defined to mean a “confusion of memories” wherein you derive all of your guilt feelings (which to a large degree have been externally inspired).  In self-psychoanalysis you are learning to transcend the socially scripted distortions of both Ego and conscience, and eliminate both.  Thereby freeing you of outside influences and shielding yourself from false memories, and aligning consciousness directly to gnosis, or revealed awareness.

MAGNETIZED BY YOUR MEMORIES

Humans are all magnetized by memories, however it is a negative polarity as implanted false memories, for the most part, dooms humanity to repeating the same mistakes over and over again, in the not-so-holy name of habit.  Negative habits are the direct result of FALSE MEMORIES.  Also, being a conglomeration of suppressed and repressed emotion-ladened or traumatic experiences (which are manipulated into false memories blocking free communication with the Subconscious Mind), humanity literally attracts accident, difficulty, and trouble into their lives.  This is known as the LAW OF ACCIDENT and is as real and valid as any other psychological law.

This Law of Accident is so real that it even affects your relationship to every single inanimate object you ever come in contact with.  For example, if your car chronically “stalls,” or your television set persistently “blows” a tube, or you drop things, or have an accident, or your appliances are always in need of repair . . . LOOK to your own Subconscious Mind for the cause and cure.   The Law of Accident means that apparent “accidents” occur in one’s life due to confused communication with Subconscious Mind and resulting faulty, or externally controlled thinking.

This is even more profoundly true when it comes to your own body.  What your body looks like today and how you feel “in” it is the sole result of all the thoughts, feelings, and experiences you ever had, or have ever been supplanted in consciousness.   One of the most advanced truths you will ever receive in this life is to know that when you alter your understanding of mind to be more universally inclusive (integrated  thinking, or operating more from the subconscious than the intellect), freeing yourself from outside controls, the appearance of your body will automatically change, becoming more youthful and robust.  Integrated thinking actually alters the aging process as it more directly connects ego to immortality.

ALL DISEASES ARE MENTAL
It may surprise you to know that it has been scientifically proven thought processes produce a constructive or destructive effect upon your body according to the character of the thoughts you “feed” ego, or more importantly, via modern digital and electromagnetic communications designed to subconsciously pattern intellect, creating a restrictive barrier, filtering (or minimizing) direct communication with your immortal self.

Humanity, unlike animals or snakes, cannot store poisons or toxins in their bodies without it eventually killing them.  Negative or crooked thinking creates actual poisons in the human system which break down body cells.  On the other hand, creative or “different” thinking stimulates both brain and body by automatically “purifying” all systems and lengthening the span of existence.

Medical science is yet to find a “cure” for cancer because they are looking for its “cause” in the wrong place.  In all the years of research and countless billions of dollars of expenditures, we are no closer to a “cure”.   And recent multi-year death rate comparisons from cancer remains virtually unchanged.  Cancer may be “arrested” by drugs, radiation and surgery but it will never be cured by such methods because cancer is the organic result of emotional causes, either originating within the person or projected into consciousness from outside sources.  When the integrated function of MIND is understood so that “bottled-up” emotions and inhibitions (those most often inculcated by societal controls) can be creatively released, then and only then will diseases, such as cancer and the common cold, be cured.

Many people do not believe that their MIND can heal physical illnesses.  Very simply, if your mind can make you sick (which everyone has experienced), then it can certainly cure you.  Don’t be dismayed if no one agrees with you on this, because with this study of the subconscious impact on consciousness you are truly a pioneer in the unexplored terrain of MIND.  One day everyone will agree with these conclusions.

POSITIVE THINKING IS DANGEROUS
While hundreds of present day schools of thought teach “creative thinking” or “the power of positive thinking”,  the end results of each promise are quite impossible to achieve for a couple of reasons: First of all, they all require will-power or faith or affirmation which barely touch the surface of your subconscious mind, making only a small “dent” in your behaviour patterns because you are mind controlled by memories deeply lodged in your subconscious.  Positive thinking or visualization will never change these memories giving rise to your habit patterns.  Habit change requires direct contact with the subconscious memories giving rise to the exteriorization.  Secondly, there is a definitive difference between “knowing” a truth and the mere “affirmation” of it.  Now, you never have to affirm or think “positive” about change.  It just exists; you are compelled to accept it, or go on living a mechanical life, your destiny controlled by deep-seated memories preventing you from expressing your universal and immortal mind.

PERFECT PITCH FOR TROUBLE
We are all like the comedian who facetiously says he has “perfect pitch for trouble.”  Instead of resonating to the highest concepts of life we are capable of, we “vibrate” (because of our past) to implanted and falsely conceived negative concepts, destructive emotions, crooked thinking, and mechanical living . . . which is not living at all . . . it is sleep-walking.

Your past (remember: immortality, resident as memory and now accessed through sociological induced mind control ) keeps you permanently locked in habit patterns.  False memories keep you from being objective, rational, and unbiased.  These same memories keep you living “a life of quiet desperation,” isolated, lonely, alienated, and insecure.  Memories, self-created and imposed, produce self-hypnosis and sleep.

We may define this  “sleep” as a state of mind in which you are not conscious or aware of yourself.  Your objective is to realise that you are helpless in this sleep; anything may happen, such as accident, sickness, wars, problems, confusion, etc.

Most people, with rare exception, pass all their lives in sleep.  They only look like they are awake, and only at rare times, do they awaken for a moment, look around, and promptly fall back into their faux-normal, walking sleep.  Strangely enough,  they all think or assume they are wide awake.  This false assumption is fatal for it means that they are totally mind controlled, and unable to realize a fully integrated, expansive mind.   But more importantly, they lose integrated identity at a nexus, and may even cease to exist as a personality, or ego.  To all extent and purposes, lose spiritual cohesiveness (or, in a sense, individuality) and are dispersed within the collective unconscious.

PURPOSE OF SELF-PSYCHOANALYSIS
Self-psychoanalysis is a concept designed for the following reasons:
1) to prevent you from accepting new social induced or self-creating mind controlling memories, that in turn create expressed habits of enslavement and “sleep”.  You then become freed to successfully block the imposition of false, or circuitous memories.
2) to release you from the bondage of the memories that now control you.
3) to break-up the artificial “image” and eliminate the false identity that you have become.
4) to instruct you in unusual and rare techniques to liberate your “spontaneous” self and “real” identity.
5) a way to spend your leisure in creative self-development and purposeful fulfilment;
6) to give you a new way of thinking that will eventually enable you to control your life and circumstances at all times, as well as releasing you from the devastating Law of Accident.  And at the same time, provide you with the key to immortality.

FUNCTION OF MIND
To thoroughly KNOW yourself (consciousness integration), you must be aware of the structure and function of your mind.  Your mind is divided into three levels of function called: CONSCIOUS, SUBCONSCIOUS, and INTUITIVE.  It is very important that you realise that these labels are three phases of function operating in one mind.  They are not separate and distinct “compartments.”  The process of integration unites these apparently separate functions into a unified consciousness (identification with immortality and complete knowledge of self).

CONSCIOUS:        Thinks, reasons, analyses - - only while you are apparently awake, which is not so easy to determine.
SUBCONSCIOUS:        Records all impressions, sights, sounds; never stops; like a tape recorder; below the surface of consciousness; storehouse of all memories (serially - from any phase of an infinite series); centre of all habits; contains your complete past; permanent location of your conscience.  The seat of the soul.
INTUITION:            Direct perception; sudden knowing; functions increasingly as  Ego-image is broken down.  May be described as Gnosis,

REMEMBER: THESE ARE NOT SEPARATE COMPARTMENTS BUT ARE IDEALLY
 INTERWOVEN, OR INTEGRATED AND UNIFIED.

From these definitions it is easy to understand that your Subconscious Mind plays the major role in controlling your life and behaviour.  Remember earlier we mentioned that less than 10% of the mind’s potential is utilized?   Well, the untapped potential of the subconsciousness is literally responsible for over 90% of your everyday thoughts, feelings, motivations, desires, prejudices, anxieties, tensions, illnesses, illusions, personality problems, social state, and daily behaviour.  Thus, Self-Psychoanalysis seeks to re-associate your “waking” mind with your basic subconscious concepts by changing your normal reactions and responses to life’s everyday occurrences.  And by giving you the means to block all extraneous efforts to control and influence what you think you are.

THE SECRET: SELF-OBSERVATION
All people, consciously or unconsciously, seek freedom from something.  In modern man the prime motivator is freedom from control, a deep-seated, but seldom realized, desire to realize reunion with their basic self, and to express life differently.  In order to gain freedom from external control (societal or otherwise), humanity must learn to become self-aware in a way different from that mandated by a mind and mass-controlled society.  This may be swiftly achieved, and safely expressed by Self-Observation or Self-Watching.  Self-observation is the basic secret of Self-Psychoanalysis.  It is the one absolute that will enable you to be “your own analyst” without the worry of having to pay hundreds or thousands of dollars for the proverbial  “sessions-on-the-couch.”   Remember, behaviour patterns (all forms of control) can only be changed by utilizing certain little known techniques.  Will-power or positive thinking can never change habit; it can only confuse you further as it is the one human trait which is most often the problem, and a prime tool utilized by social engineers for mind controlled societal evolution.  This little known technique of self-watching, if persistently used, will automatically transform your life and your affairs as no other method ever could.  It immediately sets you apart from the “sleeping” population, who have no way to step outside of their conditioning to integrate with their immortal self, and to appreciate the real destiny of mankind, which is expansive and not restrictive in any manner.

This is your reason for self-observation: You are not now consciously integrated and free of outside influences to allow for a direct investigation of your immortal nature.  You are mechanical, a prepackaged bundle of conditioned reflexes constantly being “triggered” by external forces and circumstances.  You are conscious of all sorts of things, but not yourself.  Repeated efforts of self-observation will prove to you that you are not presently conscious, often not aware of the transitions from sleep to wakefulness.  Thus will you begin to understand the difference between mind controlled consciousness and self-actuated consciousness.  And appreciate that your life’s work should be to become fully and freely conscious, unified in design with universal and interdimensional mind.

You may ask at this point what should you observe and become conscious of?  Quite simply, you must observe yourself.  You must become conscious of yourself as you truly are, free of all mind-controls, integrated in purpose, so that you are fully conscious of your genuine purpose in life.

How do you become conscious of yourself?  Direct conscious effort is necessary.  You become conscious just by “attempting to be more conscious,” and by asking yourself over and over again, “Am I conscious?” or “Am I conscious of myself and what I am doing, or not?, am I awake?”  Asking these questions will make you temporarily conscious, but you will not be able to “keep” it, your mind will become absorbed in something else and you will forget yourself.  Hence, you must persist in your moments of self-observation, that they become increasingly longer and you “forget” yourself proportionately less.  You must realise during your self-observing that you are present, that you are here.  Coincidentally, this is also effective when used as a means of entering a dream, and thereby becoming a fully active participant rather than a mere observer.  This is a very important lesson.  When mind is integrated, the aberrant separation between sleeping and faux-waking consciousness dissolves, so that you have a continuous consciousness of self, and full awareness of your connection to immortality within whatever time and space you choose.

How and what in yourself do you observe?  Begin by watching your actions, re-actions, responses, and behaviour.  In this process, be aware that you are like “another person” looking at yourself.  At first, this will be very difficult to do, but as you practice it will become progressively easier and automatic.

Continue by observing your posture, listen to your speech, observe how much you talk, listen to the “tone” of your voice (i.e., the “way” you say something), and even “listen-back” to what you may have said a few minutes or hours ago, observe how you automatically assume certain attitudes with some people and different attitudes with other people (ie, how you subconsciously play different roles with different people), watch all of your emotions, observe your mind wandering aimlessly in pure fantasy, observe how certain “words” by certain people trigger reactions in you that you cannot control, watch your defence mechanisms, your justifications, your rationalizations, your “pet” superstitions, your pet peeves, and so forth.

Don’t confine your self-examination to waking consciousness, but continue it within your dreams.  Keep a dream log, and as you develop better recall upon waking, learn to actively participate within dreams, control them, and watch as they become extensions of life experiences.

You are now beginning to become aware of the fomulative role subconscious plays in cognitive functions.

As you first begin self-observation, it is not necessary for you to try to stop what you see yourself automatically doing.  In fact, you will find that at first it is quite impossible for you to stop the behaviour you are observing.  After a short time, you should begin to oppose (i.e., try to stop) your “automatic behaviour.”   However, whatever you do -- DO NOT BECOME DISCOURAGED EVEN IF YOU SEE NO TANGIBLE RESULTS - - because as you continue to self-watch, you will discover a most remarkable thing: In certain circumstances you will have gained total control over yourself and the situation, and you will not emotionally react, due to your constant efforts at self-observing.

After practising self-observation for a while, you will become aware of some “unusual “ things: For example, you will find that the major difficulty in observing yourself is that you forget about it.  You will start to observe yourself, and your emotions will “attach” to some thought or idea and you will automatically forget about self-watching.

HABITS TO OBSERVE
To gain total freedom you must break your habits, and to break a habit, you must first become aware of it.   The following are seven of the most destructive and mechanical habits that you possess and must therefore become aware of by self-observing.  These habits keep you asleep to your real identity and use up all of your energy stores thereby preventing you from achieving creative self-knowledge and self-expression.

    1)   Many ‘I’s – All people erroneously assume that they are constantly one and the same person, however, as you begin to observe yourself you find this is not true.  You are always different.  You assume many different ‘I’s and each ‘I’ manifests itself as a “role” that you play which, in turn, corresponds to one set of conditions, then another “role” to another set, and so on.  You assume different “roles” with different people and in different circumstances: one role with your parents, another with your children, your loved one, at the corner store, at the theatre, in sports, etc.

You seldom, if ever, notice these differences or how you pass from one role to another.  The “change” of roles or “masks” is always controlled by circumstances.  Frank Lloyd Wright eloquently summed up this area of man’s mechanicalness by stating: “Man is a mob.”  In fact, you are a whole “crowd” of ‘I’s, Egos, roles, masks, actors, personae, etc.

The illusion of “oneness” or belief you are always the same is created by your always having the sensation of one physical body, the same name, the same feelings, the same thoughts, the same habits, and so forth.

    2)   Lying – This is not intentional lying in the ordinary “white lie” sense.  Lying occurs when you pretend to know something when in actuality you do not know.  People pretend to possess all kinds of knowledge: About themselves, about God, about life and death, about the universe, about evolution, about politics, about sex, about everything.  In actuality, people not only do not know what they claim to know, they don’t even know “who” and “what” they are.  And the more you think you are free from “lying” the more you are “caught” in it.

Humanity naturally assumes it is self-willed, knows itself, and is in control of its destiny; it also feels it has the power of “doing” or “choice.”  This is lying; humanity as it now expresses through mind controlled evolution, has no more control of life than a “reed in the wind.”

Remember, “The trouble with most folks is not so much their ignorance, as their ‘knowing’ so many things which ain’t so.”

    3)   Constant Talking
– While there is no harm in talking of itself, most people talk and talk and talk without ever noticing how much they are talking and how unnecessary most of it is.  As you self-observe, you will see how you talk because it gives you pleasure, takes up time and energy, and you will notice how many mechanical, automatic, and foolish things you say.

You must not only observe “talking,” you must resist doing it as much as possible.  If you do not resist it, you will not be able to observe anything.  As Will Rogers used to say, “When you’re talkin, you ain’t learnin.”

    4)   Imagination – This is one of the principal obstacles to self-observation.  You will start to observe yourself when suddenly imagination starts on some subject; and you forget about observation.  Also, you imagine non-existent things about yourself – that you are conscious, objective, that you have “choice,” etc.  You imagine these things to “please” yourself, and shortly after you begin to believe it.  Some people also imagine they have certain illnesses, while others imagine accidents or misfortune or unpleasant things are going to befall them.

    5)   Emotionalizing or Identification – This occurs when you become totally “absorbed” or “lost” in some object, what you are saying or doing, what you do or do not believe, your aspirations, your ideas, your thoughts, etc.  As you self-observe, you find that you “identify” with everything; you “emotionalize” 25 hours a day.  In this state of “identification” you are more mechanical than at any other time, and more subject to the Law of Accident.

All of your other habits, such as constant talking, negative emotions, imagination, etc., need identification, or they cease to exist.  Thus, when you cease to “identify” by self-watching, your habits will drop away.

A major problem today is that people identify with “things” and in turn become “possessed” by them.  And since those things wear out, decay and die, humanity becomes “bereaved” whenever he loses the “object of his affection.”  This goes further: Humanity is not only possessed of “things,” but begins to regard itself as a “thing”, and must eventually wear out, decay and die.  Thus, humanity is on a collision course with Freud’s “death wish” – that is, the unconscious instinctual drive in all people to return to “clay” as it were, or to eventually die.

Unfortunately, modern religions do nothing to reverse this macabre picture of primitive compulsion.  All religions foolishly and erroneously teach that ”death” is the reward of life.  This is not true; furthermore, it is schizophrenic.  This absurd belief is the beginning of insanity.  Is it no wonder our mental institutions are overcrowded with the mentally ill!

Death is not humanity’s reward, it is but an illusion of “relativity,” and with the proper understanding and self-study – the appearance of physical death may even be transcended.

    6)   Inner Considering
– This is “identification” with people – where you constantly worry what people think about you, if you are liked or disliked, what someone else will say or do in a given situation, and so on.  This can quickly become an obsession of worry, doubt, suspicion, resentment, and guilt feelings.  Considering wastes tremendous amounts of energy that could be used constructively.

    7)   Negative Emotions
– This refers to all emotions such as anger, rage, fear, fright, guilt, boredom, disgust, irritation, hatred, jealousy, suspicion, self-pity, sympathy, depression, etc.  99% of all people are controlled by the expression of negative emotions.  This is the foremost tool used by those who control the development of civilization.

Some people take pride in their irritability or anger or worry.  It is extremely difficult to perceive that you actually enjoy negative emotions.  In fact, some people derive all of their pleasure from experiencing negative emotions.  Books, movies, and plays glorify negative emotions as if they were valuable.  You must understand that negative emotions are purely mechanical, a sign of weakness, and serve no useful purpose whatever.  They do not give you knowledge or understanding, and they prevent your future evolution and development.

If you think you are in control of your emotions, you are deceiving yourself.  Negative emotions require identification to exist.  As you learn to observe, resist, and stop identifying with things, conditions, and people, you will simultaneously and automatically be free of negative emotions.

REMEMBER: You cannot stop a habit by will-power.

Habits can only be stopped by self-observation.  This is accomplished by observing your self in the middle of a habit or while an emotion is going on.  It is not enough to just observe these mechanical habits and functions; you must try to resist or oppose their expression.  You must remember to resist them in order to observe them.  Your mechanicalness manifests so swiftly, insidiously, and habitually that you will not be able to notice them unless you create obstacles for them.

RESULTS ARE CUMULATIVE
WATCH yourself like a detective and keep reminding yourself to self-watch because you will forget to observe yourself.  But as you self-observe over and over, you will find that the effect is cumulative.  It all adds up.  THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT.  For example, instead of getting involved in the “usual” argument, you automatically, without conscious effort, will be able to “stand off” without emotionalizing or identifying, and you will be objective, and you will be in control of the situation.  Even though it seems at first you are not getting any results, KEEP self-observing because you will reap incredible results: You will become calm, tranquil, increasingly conscious, more alive, more creative, more aware of your surroundings, more in control of yourself, healthier, happier, and you will gain remarkable energies.

Watching the mechanicalness of other people will help you to see your own automaticisms.  Consider over and over that you nor any other people remember to observe themselves.  This will cause you to become consciously integrated very quickly.

You can now see why the Ten Commandments, Aristotle’s Golden Mean (i.e., “Moderation in all things”), and the Golden Rule are quite impossible for anyone to follow.  Habits of mechanicalness will always cause people to “violate” codes of laws, rules, and religious doctrines.  Only self-observation can direct you to living the “right life,” and you will not need written rules, commandments, or ethical codes, you will function intuitively and spontaneously according to your connection with universal mind.  This is true freedom without license.

Do not let your self-analysis become morbid introspection.  Else instead of helping, it will only serve to re-entrench feelings of guilt.  If you have a problem that you simply cannot resolve after applying all of these techniques, do not hesitate to seek out the council of someone you explicitly trust.

DANGER OF DRUGS, HYPNOSIS, MEDITATION
Humanity’s incessant drive for freedom and awareness has created in him a certain suggestibility which makes him “susceptible” to various artificial stimulants and false teachings.  The latter part of the 20th Century and now into the 21st, has seen the wide use by new-age seekers of consciousness-expanding drugs.  While its adherents or “users” claim it creates exciting new states of consciousness, use of mind-altering drugs can be extremely dangerous because they are merely the artificial stimulation of “imagination”.  Drugs merely produce more sleep and hallucination for you to “awaken” from.

Also, beware of hypnosis.  Hypnosis creates an artificial state in humans much like “positive thinking” or “meditation,” and is more sleep.  The only real value of hypnosis is that it shows that ordinary man is already “hypnotized” by his habits.

Meditation is especially dangerous.  99% of all metaphysicians who practice meditation become caught in what is known as the “psychic realm” where they see visions, colours, people, and hear various “sounds.”  They have hypnotized themselves into believing they experience real extra-sensory perception and true spiritual evolvement.   However, meditation and such “psychic manifestations” are extremely dangerous and often lean to insanity.  The highest form of meditation (to correctly re-define the word) is to self-observe as much as possible.

EXTRA-SENSORY PERCEPTION

Self-observation will eventually and naturally release your Intuitive Mind into operation, and extra-sensory or “parapsychological” abilities will be a natural function of your new emerging, integrated identity.  Despite the claims fo numerous metaphysical schools, no exercises of any sort can produce authentic ESP into your experience.  This is why many of you have tried for years to “become” extra-sensory but with little or no success.  As you begin to lay aside your egocentric concept of yourself with all of its “roles” and false attitudes, you will simultaneously begin to experience direct intuition which is the highest and only legitimate form of extra-sensory perception.

CONQUER SEXUAL INHIBITIONS
One of the most important areas of mechanicalness to observe in yourself is in your sexual activity.  Humans are sexual beings; it is normal and natural for men and women of all ages to have sexual experience covering a wide range of variation.  However, the Christian ethic has for centuries foisted a distorted sexual image upon man.  It states, “Anything that is pleasurable is sinful.”  This has caused more suffering, more misery, more inhibition, more physical illness, and more insanity than any other teaching in history.  One has only to look at the Catholic Priesthood to understand the significance of sexual repression.

The first thing you must do is to realize that YOU ARE SEXUAL, and that your sexual activity, in the manner you find satisfying, is normal and natural for YOU.  Secondly, apply the following “Ultimate Freedom Technique” to be free of present inhibitions.

Sexual denials, shame, embarrassment, inhibition, and guilt concerning your own body organs and various sexual acts can and does cause the majority of physical illnesses, nervous conditions, crimes, and mental illness.  The metaphysical schools which teach celibacy or sexual denials cause much frustration, inhibition, and actual physical illness.  Their “oriental” concept that celibacy leads to higher consciousness is decidedly wrong.  Only true knowledge and unique application of sex can lead to self-TRANSCENDENCE, higher consciousness, and freedom.

No family, no husband or wife, no single person, no teenager, and no golden-ager should be without the extraordinary benefits of an active sex-life.

ULTIMATE FREEDOM TECHNIQUE
Since you are today what your memories have made you, it logically follows that you must take steps to prevent the creation of new “negative” memories which exert “control” over your life.  This is swiftly accomplished by the following ULTIMATE TEACHING TECHNIQUE which is the most advanced understanding available to humanity today, if it is used:
Know that no one can affect you but your own thinking.
Know that it is your own Mind that keeps you in bondage.
Know that no one can ever make you angry but your own thoughts.
Know that all anguish is self-inflicted and self-imposed.
Know that no one can make you worry but yourself.

This is the remarkable ULTIMATE FREEDOM TECHNIQUE that insures your freedom from upsetting negative emotions and gives you complete control over circumstances.  You are now a practising PsychoSurgeon - you possess the rare ability to “cut out” and “remove” those “thoughts” (your own thoughts which have been inculcated through mind control) which have affected or “injured” you throughout your entire life.  People, and what they do, will now cease to bother you.  This is the ancient SECRET of ultimate DOMINION, POWER and TRANSFORMATION.

“Today I have got out of all trouble, or rather I have cast out all trouble, for it was not outside, but within and in my opinions.”   - Marcus Aurelius

With the “technique” of self-knowledge, it is impossible for anyone to do anything to you at anytime; it is always your thought that affects you.  Thus, only you suffer from holding grudges, hatreds, resentments, or revengefulness.  Remember the old saying: “Let not the sun set upon your wrath.”  This is one of the most difficult facts of existence to perceive, but once perceived and understood, its worth becomes priceless.  Understanding this is the WAY to ultimate freedom.

To be free of your memories of the past:

Know that no one has ever affected you but your own mind-controlled thoughts.

Know that no one has ever caused you to be frightened or angry, hurt or happy but your own mind (because if you didn’t “accept” in your mind what was said or done to you, you would not have been affected in the least).

Go back into your past and re-live as many experiences as you can remember, and see that it was your own thinking that caused you to feel hurt or angry or happy and so forth. Keep re-feeling or remembering the experience (take each memory separately) until you free everyone in the scene of guilt for affecting you.  Then reverse the process, and be sure you yourself do not have guilt because in like manner it was their acceptance in their mind of what you said and did that affected them and not you.

This is a profound technique; its use will free you of guilt feelings, of complexes, resentments, hostilities, inhibitions, submerged anger, repressed emotions, and organic diseases that have emotional causes.  DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE ITS POWER; it is a potent therapy.

Most problems involve other people BUT for you to understand another human being, you must first understand YOURSELF.  With SELF-PSYCHOANALYSIS, you can now understand yourself and therefore understand the behaviour of all other people.  When you know that behaviour is caused, mechanical and automatic, you can even predict how a person or group of people will react in any given circumstance.  Business  preys upon the mechanicalness of man to “manipulate” and “engineer” his consent for whatever product or services they happen to be selling.  You should use your new knowledge of man to achieve greater empathy and compassion for your fellow humans, and in doing so, help to make the world a better place to live.

As you purge yourself of your inner conflicts, you will be helping humanity take a giant step forward in the pursuit of peace and the elimination of war; for war is one individual’s inner conflicts magnified a million times.

Remember, NEVER seek to change circumstances.  Change your mind first (with the techniques herein), and circumstances will inevitably change.

This GNOSIS or knowledge you have just received will not immediately make you more comfortable or secure.  In fact, it is painful at times, and at first will make you more insecure because you will be aware of your false identities, your facades, your defence mechanisms, your silliness, your viciousness, and your primitive self for the first time in your life.  But do not stop here; you are in the middle of your therapy if your self-observing makes you a bit uneasy, and you are well on the road to total recovery . . . the recovery of a “genuine” identity that no one can ever take from you.  Your security and comfort will gradually be found in your change from a pseudo-self to a permanent harmonious IMMORTAL SELF that is objective and unlimited in scope.  This is the WAY to higher consciousness and higher powers of mind.

This new way to think leads you into a sublime “common sense” where you will experience your own “GOLDEN AGE.”  It is a profound method of objective thinking that enables you to be the “producer” of experience rather than the “product.”

“Man is not the creature of circumstances.  Circumstances are the creatures of man.” - Disraeli
